Mortal Kombat 2 producer Todd Garner teases the return of Hiroyuki Sanada’s undead ninja Scorpion in the sequel to the 2021 video game adaptation. Directed by Simon McQuoid, the upcoming martial arts fantasy movie shows the next stage of a deadly tournament between Earthrealm and Outworld, with new fighters joining the battle.

In Mortal Kombat, Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion is a 17th-century Japanese assassin who was sent to the hellish Netherrealm after his family was brutally murdered by a rival clan.

Now, Garner has offered a small glimpse at Scorpion’s comeback in Mortal Kombat 2 with a sly set photo. Check it out below:

Garner shared an image taken from a camera on the set of the movie. The shot is focused on Scorpion’s iconic weapon, a bloody kunai, against what appears to be a blue screen intended to show an otherworldly environment in the film’s final cut.

Mortal Kombat 2 does not have a release date yet for theaters.
